I just finished a two-piece commission for our own Chickfighter, who has been producing a series of comics featuring crime-fighting "Danger Doll" super-heroines Molly and Kei. Since this was a digital project, I have the original pen-on-paper art available in the online store at a discount. Click on the right to take a look!
"Tina and?" Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $45
Sorry about the long delay, everyone! Tobie and I took a quick trip up to Spokane, but before we could go, I had to do a lot of long-neglected maintenance and repair on her Toyota. And yes, you guessed it, I'm not used to working on cars that have transverse-mounted overhead-cam engines held together with metric fasteners. But, she's been on vacation this week, so while it wasn't really a good time for me to do it, we knew there wouldn't be a better opportunity. So anyway, on with the show!
"Kelli," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $35
I actually see Kelli as being Latin rather than Asian, but she still looks good in a Mandarin dress, in my opinion. I started this one out with the intention of giving Kelli's dress an intricate pattern, but decided I liked how it looks this way- clean and sleek.
"Kelsie," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $40
I was originally going for a "zig-zag" or "M" shape with Kelsie's body and hair, but somehow the composition just sort of evolved as I was working on this. I do like how the lighting turned out with that white division though the center of the piece.
"Sophie," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $35
A long-time supporter of my work recently found an older "costume and novelty" catalog and mailed it to me as a source of inspiration. So just for fun, I handed it to Tobie and asked her to pick out an outfit for Sophie. Deciding that she needed something different from her usual maid uniforms, she said Sophie should try something with more of a "slave girl" theme, and selected something very similar to this number, completely finished in rhinestones. I just about balked and chose to simplify it, then decided that I should try to learn how to to render it anyway. I'm glad I did!
"Dasha & Jo," Ink & Marker on 14" x 17" Bristol, $250
Okay, so this is one of those things that just got way out of hand! I know this piece is priced higher than anything I've posted before, but it's also larger and more complex. A few days ago I thought I'd draw a piece with Dasha jumping out of a window. Well, the idea grew until I realized it couldn't fit on an 8 1/2" x 11" piece and look the way I wanted it to. I thought it would work on 11" x 17", but it didn't look right that way either! So, here is the very first piece in a giant 14" x 17" format- it's huge, with a ton of airbrush work. I probably won't do these very often unless people ask for them, but I sure like how this looks! Also, please be aware that there will be a short delay in shipment. I've ordered some new larger-sized packing materials, which should arrive in a few days.
I know things have been slow around here, but we're finally getting things together behind the scenes! One of the big changes we've been making is setting up our new online store. All of our work should start appearing in the new store, as well as the first of our new high-resolution digital prints. The store is provided through one of the "really big" services, and should provide safe and secure shopping. If it's not working right, please let us know. Also, there is a "hold my order" option if you'd like us to keep your items for later shipment. Thanks for your patience, everyone!
