Bound Librarian Millie (10-5-14) SOLD

"Millie," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $35

  1. Referring to the heading above, I'd say so! Really strong arch in Millie's back, which accomplishes a number of obvious things. Perhaps more psychologically, though, it also describes her pleasure at evidently this critical moment. Good foreshortening in her face as she throws back her head as well, adding to the simply very strong overall body language in the piece. Well done through and through!

  2. Indeed, the creativity of the pose, with her body strung up as it is, creates again a somewhat abstract sculptural feel, as in some previous pieces. The heavy rope work holding her up from above and the stool, etc. supporting her from below all integrate vertically with her body very well to create that sculptural whole, especially with the rope and stool bleeding off the top and bottom of the Bristol.
