Mona in 11" x 17" Color! (8-6-14) SOLD

"Mona," Ink & Marker on 11" x 17" Bristol, $100

I took a slightly different approach to the color on this one.  Normally I use very pink/red tones that go from light to dark in value.  But this time I thought I'd go from warm on the light side to cool colors on the shadow side.  Then, like a knucklehead, I buried most of the cool colors under the gray shadows.  But that's okay, I still like how it turned out!

  1. "Going once, and going twice..." Wonder who the lucky sport is who gets to take that lead in hand?

I really dig the way you handled the color in this piece. Putting the gray over the cool underpainting was just the ticket here. And the acidy, citroen yellows simply add to the overall concept (at least as I see it) of the piece. Spectacular!
