Good Girl Sophie (8-11-14) SOLD

"Sophie," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $35

Sorry it's been a little quiet for a couple of days!  Tobie and I have been busy getting ready to print a big order of shirts for a client.  Shouldn't take that long, except that we've made a lot of changes in our setup, so it's kind of like starting over.  But progress is being made!

  1. Interesting radial composition with everything balanced as it radiates out from her left nipple, which is pretty much dead center on the sheet. Her arm's/wrists balance with the lead, her right leg balances with her head, and her left leg with her hair flowing out from behind her. These three balancing "acts", if you will, each create a line that goes through her centrally located left breast, resulting in a cool overall pinwheel feel. This of course lays the groundwork for and reinforces the entire movement/twist of her figure...very well designed!

The shading too communicates well the very sexy twist in her body, especially in her tummy area. In fact, that shading, in this and other pieces, also continues to reveal all the girl's anatomy in greater and greater detail, which is a real pleasure to see. I also dig the checkerboard floor she is on, which contrasts well with all of her very fine curves...Sophie is indeed a good girl in many ways, to be sure, and this piece is pretty durn good too!
