Dame: Sophie (6-30-13) SOLD

"Sophie," Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $34.95

Sophie's master found her a uniform almost exactly like the one she used to wear back home in England.  So, it's time for her to model it properly, isn't it?

Meanwhile, sorry about the slow updates again.  The last couple of weeks have been crazy!

  1. Let's hope Sophie is worthy of the requisite number of master's finest!

  2. Now this seems a potentially precarious pose then; Sophie must have honed well her balancing skills in "finishing" class back home in the UK!

Really dig what you are doing with the dame's faces, especially in the latest three drawings...the shading especially is fleshing them out well, making them much more individual in their characters. In fact, the overall stepping up of the value structures in these latest pieces is really allowing you to play with the light and achieve a much more finely "textured" overall look. This, in conjunction with the great details already in your line work, is amping up the overall look in the drawings quite nicely.

I also like the little plot line you have going with Sophie and her master that has appeared in the last few Sophie drawings. It's a lot of fun seeing how our Sophie interacts with master, whether she is in trouble or not...all very primly and happily British, one might say!

  3. She wears that getup real nice, she does! Ties on women can be so incredibly sexy.
