Dame: Anya (4-12-13) SOLD

Anya, Ink & Marker on 8 1/2" x 11" Bristol, $34.95

For quite a while I've intended to show Anya actually working at her job, so I finally did.  I thought this might be a little something different for the guys who really like masks and breathing apparatus.  Can't have her getting a headache from those nasty paint fumes, after all!

  1. Interesting...first we have Tina administering some corporal punishment to Anya, and now we have Anya looking as if she is getting into some trouble which could require the aforementioned discipline. Could there be a weird Star Trek-type causality loop at Tina's Body and Performance, where the effect shows up before the cause? Or is this simply a flashback?

However you choose to look at it, I think it's a cool little narrative connection that points up the open-ended nature of these drawings that invite viewers to engage their imaginations (as Andy mentioned in one of his replies on the recent Millie piece). This is a critical distinction that makes Andy's work erotic art as opposed to mere porn, at least in my mind. After all, don't they say that all that stuff happens in the mind and imagination, anyway? At any rate, I certainly enjoy engaging my imagination here! Any other ideas on all this?

    1. Thanks! After I finished this one, I actually was wondering myself if this took place before the last Tina/Anya piece. But on the other hand, we know that Anya gets herself in trouble all the time, and some of her accidents, I think, aren't always accidental.

  2. For some reason Andy as soon as I saw this the fist thing that popped into my head was. I bet this is sorta what Tobie looks like when she is helping you restore a car.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the picture, but for some reason it is just a cool visual in my mind.

So please pass my comment on to Tobie and let her know that the picture inspired thoughts of her beauty.

    1. Thanks, pal! I passed your compliments on to her this evening, and she appreciates it! When I had my auto body shop a few years ago, she used to come in after she finished working elsewhere and help work on customers' cars in the evenings- though neither one of us painted, and she hasn't done any car work in the nude. At least not yet...

    2. We can only hope that Tobie will start doing car work in the nude and that you will be there to capture it on film to share with us.

Hey we can all dream, can't we. ;o)

  3. I've been staring at this pic for days now debating pulling the trigger on buying it, though a more detailed mask would have made it a must buy regardless of whether or not I could afford it.

I can't justify the expense right now just to have it sell so you don't give up on doing breathing mask stuff. So precious few people do the stuff with any sort of quality so I don't want anyone willing to pander to it to give up on it.

Anyways, regardless of the content, keep up the consistent quality of work you put out.

  4. Thanks, Rab! Glad you stopped by! Thanks for the feedback, I'll admit that I thought I should've spent more time researching the mask, so I'm really glad you brought it up. I looked at a couple different ones from auto body sources and decided they weren't quite what I was looking for, so I cooked up something that wasn't very true-to-life. Which wouldn't seem so odd, until I mention that I did spend way too much time looking at fenders for 1969 Dodge Chargers, so I could get the correct shape at the front where the bumper goes over it- how ridiculous! Once I realized that I'd passed up research time on the mask and spent too much time on the fender (that nobody would be interested anyway), I immediately felt dumb about it- but oh well!

Anyway, don't worry about picking this up just to keep the mask pieces coming- I assure you I'll make more, and I don't want you over-extending your finances. In fact, your comment helps get your message to me much more directly, right? Anyway, I do think the mask thing is really interesting, and I know there are more guys who like them, so now would be a good time for anyone else out there to raise a hand so I get an idea of how many more of us are out there. I'm thinking maybe Dasha could have some of this theme incorporated into her world?

And one more thing- I didn't notice your blog until just now, and it's awesome! Seriously, fantastic work! I was actually going to ask if you'd seen the Kelsie "mermaid" piece I did a while ago, then I was paging through your blog, and *holy smokes!* Your followup to that piece just rocks, you should've let me know about it! Anyway, for the rest of you guys, click on Rab's name, and go to his blog- it's really great stuff, and totally worth your time to check it out!
